François Joseph Naderman (1781–1835) was a renowned harpist, composer, and teacher of the post-Revolutionary period in France. Highly celebrated during his lifetime, he became the first professor of harp at the Conservatoire de Paris, laying the foundations of the prestigious French school of harp playing.

Today, his works are considered among the most important contributions to the harp repertoire. In particular, the Seven Progressive Sonatas, Op. 92, continue to be widely studied, performed, and recorded.

Because of their pedagogical value, practical effectiveness, and genuine musical quality, I am pleased to present in this volume a collection of eight short and accessible pieces drawn from Naderman’s celebrated École de la harpe, Op. 91, arranged for the lever harp.

As my aim is primarily practical rather than historical or philological, I have taken certain liberties in adapting these pieces. In some cases, I have modified harmonic progressions and added passages or cadences in order to simplify lever changes and make the music more idiomatic for the lever harp.

On my blog you will find additional works by Naderman arranged for the lever harp. (click here)
